The Computer and Communication Sciences Division (CCSD) of the Indian Statistical Institute invites applications for positions of Visiting Scientist / Research Associate from bright candidates who have recently obtained PhD degree in Computer Science/Electronics/Mathematics/Statistics or related areas. Candidates who have submitted their PhD theses and are awaiting the degree may also apply. If a position is offered to such a candidate, continuation of the same beyond the period for which it is initially offered will be contingent upon successful completion of the PhD.
This is a rolling advertisement against which applications will be reviewed periodically in a financial year. The application deadline for the first, second and third reviews are 30th June, 30th September and 31st December respectively. The Institute will make every effort to inform applicants about its decision within 1 month of the deadline.
The job will require carrying out high level research work in the applicant's area of interest and/or teaching one or more courses at ISI. Collaboration with one or more faculty members working in a unit of CCSD is required.
For a position of Visiting Scientist, a selected candidate will be offered initially for a period of three months, which may be extended, subject to satisfactory performance of the candidate and availability of fund, for a period of at most three months.
The fellowship for a Research Associate is usually offered to a selected candidate for a maximum period of one year, with the possibility of renewal for one more year, subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

- A one page research proposal, preferably prepared in collaboration with a faculty member of ISI. No endorsement letter or signature is necessary, but the name(s) of the faculty member(s) with whom the applicant wishes to work should be clearly mentioned. The proposal may involve more collaborators from inside or outside of ISI, if necessary.
- A curriculum vitae, which must include date of birth, academic qualifications, and job/professional experience, if any.
- A list of publications.
- The proposed period of the visit, and the Centres of ISI where the candidate is willing to be located.
- A copy of appropriate certificate for a candidate belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/EWS category.
